Seth A. Biser, M.D., is a Board-Certified ophthalmic surgeon and an award-winning Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at N.Y.U. and the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital.  He specializes in comprehensive ophthalmic evaluations and treatments of a wide variety of eye conditions, and performs several types of eye surgery including corneal transplantation, LASIK and other forms of laser vision correction, routine and advanced cataract surgery, and anterior segment reconstruction. He sees and treats patients in Fleetwood, NY (in southern Westchester, NY, 1/2 mile from Bronxville).  He serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the New York Eye Bank for Sight Restoration.

Training and Academics

Dr. Biser graduated with Honors and Distinction in All Subjects from Cornell University. He received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society. He served his internship at Albert Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia, where he won Glaxo-Wellcome Award for Outstanding Performance during Internship.

He underwent three years of residency training in ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital. During his transition from residency to a highly competitive corneal fellowship in New York, he won a Heed Fellowship, which is given to fewer than 30 ophthalmologists nationwide each year.

Following fellowship, in 2003, he became board-certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology. He began teaching at New York University, and was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. During his second year of teaching, Dr. Biser was voted Ophthalmology Surgical Attending of the Year at N.Y.U. for his surgical teaching of ophthalmology residents. He still volunteers as an Attending Physician on the N.Y.U. Cornea Service.

Dr. Biser has published articles, abstracts, and book chapters; presented findings at national and international meetings; and received several awards for his research. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and is a member of the Medical Advisory Board of The Eye Bank for Sight Restoration (New York)

Clinical Practice

Dr. Biser entered private practice of ophthalmology immediately upon the conclusion of his fellowship in 2002, while also assuming a teaching position at N.Y.U. In 2004, he assumed ownership of Fleetwood Ophthalmology, a practice that was originally founded in the 1970s. Dr. Biser brought advanced cataract, corneal, and refractive surgery techniques to the community, and his practice expanded rapidly, almost solely via word-of-mouth reputation by patients and referring physicians.

In 2005, Dr. Biser became a Staff Attending at Lawrence Hospital (Bronxville, NY), where, in 2007, he performed the hospital’s first-ever small-incision corneal transplant (DSEK).

Dr. Biser continues to selectively provide cutting-edge, innovative services to his patients, as well as attentive, individualized care.

Dr. Biser has been performing premiere cataract surgery in Westchester NY since 2004 at two locations, offering advanced-technology implants (such as the Restor and Crystalens), limbal relaxing incisions, and other premium-outcome options.
